
Dr. Tony Barrow M.Ed, Ph.D, a local marine historian, taught in secondary, further and higher education until his retirement in 2007. He still teaches part-time as an associate lecturer of the Open University and visiting lecturer of Sunderland University. He is widely published on many aspects of the maritime history of north east England.
